The KATY Depot
                                                           The KATY Depot

Built in 1909 - 1911 at the then astronomical cost of $250,00.00. This is probably the most
architecturally significant building in Denison. Its location at foot of Main Street and the
downtown business district is on hint of its former importance. At its peak the KATY Depot and
four other stations in the area normally hosted 52 arriving and departing passenger trains every
24 hours. On its last cross country tour, the Liberty Bell was exhibited here in 1915  President
Franklin Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt stopped here in 1936, during his Texas
Centennial visit. Since its construction, this brick railroad passenger station with red granite
and terracotta trim has come to stand as a symbol of Denison.
A pharmacy and drug store,
cafes and shops as well as MKT offices
and ticket sales, were housed on the premises.

The KATY Depot building, originaly called the Union Station, is located in the Denison
Historic East End District. The building was build to serve north Texas and still stands today for
all to see. The building is a unique place with a long history as the hub of the KMT railroad's
      operations.

The railroad is gone, but the restored KATY Depot remains as not only a historic reminder
of the past and a first class office building, but as a nostalgic location for parties, celebrations
      and conferences.
We also have large and small offices available that could be the location for
      your new business.

Denison is located one hour north of Dallas and is poised for substantial growth as Dallas
continues its expansion up Highway 75. This property is located in Denison's historic downtown
area, a state designated Art and Cultural District, which is experiencing an upsurge of commercial
activity. The property is located in the Central Business District and is zoned for commercial,
retail and residential. The city has become a tourist destination due to its arts and music
scene and because it is only 10 minutes from Lake Texoma and its 89,000 acres of outdoor
     recreation.
